The endless we, we, we, ... Enough.
Copywriting
The essence of this post is totally essential to the success of your marketing messages but it is so often ignored.
In fact, it is so important that you should review what I am about to tell you regularly because it is the attention to detail that makes all of the difference....
Now... what do you think is the most important word in marketing?
tick, tick, tick... ready?
You are quite likely going to say “free” and there is no question that it is used to death.
However, human nature dictates that the most important word in marketing is “you” and its cousin called “your”.
Let’s face it... you are interested in you.
You don’t want to endlessly hear “we this” and “we that” or the dreaded “about us”
You want to know what is the benefit to you.
Quite simply... the more times you use “you” or ‘your” in your messages the more they will get read... the more you use words like “we”, “our” and “us” the less they will get read.
So before you send any message out, go through your copy and do a “you/we” count.
If you don’t have at least twice as many “you” words compared to the “we” words then it’s time to take another look at your copywriting.
What do you think? Have you seen some shocking examples of "we, we, we"?
Keep your powder dry,
