Do you really need a website on Day One?
Marketing
Well, you'll be surprised that I don't think so
I was chatting today with a university student who was a fully
qualified personal trainer and he’d found that the majority of his clients just
wanted him to make a diet and exercise program with exercise instructions and then
to email or post it to them.
His initial thoughts were to create a website and to start
doing this for more people... I have a huge fitness and health passion he said and
this is something I could see working.
He then said... what advice would you
give me? Please help me out as I have never run a business or started one
before but I have a passion to help people be their best and hope it works
Well, here’s what I said to him...
- "I'm a good news sort
of person so let me start with that slant...
The good news is that you have passion for what you want to do and you are in
the optimum position in your life to do it... the bad news is that a lot of
fitness people are already in the space and doing it... but the good news is...
that is good... because you know that it's a strong market
Next... the good news is that you are going to have your biggest level of
enquiries very soon as we all promise to be good in 2011... the bad news is
that it is a seasonal business because we all have the best of intentions in
Winter but... the good news is that Spring will come and we will start the
cycle again
Good news... bad news... yikes, my head is spinning... is yours?
The secret to the whole thing is YOU because you are not entering the fitness
business... did you realise that?
You are entering the "making people feel good business" mixed with
learning how to be a motivational speaker
So with no website and a small budget (I guess) how can you get some early runs
on the board?
Here's what I would do if I was you... go talk to every wedding reception, wedding
planning, wedding anything place you can find and offer them a joint venture...
if they offer your services of a 90 minute free consultation with the bride and
groom (one hour is tacky to people getting married) then you will give them a
slice of your fees for making their clients look amazing in their wedding
photos...
Why do I suggest this market? Well, wedding photos are for life or at least
until the next marriage... so there's some serious energy there for you to work
with in that niche" -
I think it's so important to have your marketing strategy clearly defined before you embrace a website and internet marketing
