Have you been an "Expendable"?

 Customer Service

There has never been a time like this before.

Business and our lives change almost daily due to the speed of technology.

And customer service typically suffers... thus, the companies that excel at customer service are written about and spoken about.

Now surely, that is the minimum height that the bar should be set at because.. “hello”, we are going to make money if we do just that... and still many businesses don’t do it.

But what about the “Expendables”?

... those people who come to the door steps of businesses every day with enthusiasm in their hearts. They may be sending a resume because they were invited to do so... or even a proposal to help make or save money  because they were invited to do so. They may even be crazy enough to see something that is overlooked in business and tell about it.

Are these people worth no less to these businesses than their customers? Do they not deserve a return telephone call, a letter, an email?

Do these businesses think that these people do not speak and communicate?

The growth in social media and business forums means that the “Expendables” are venting like never before... sometimes good but mostly bad. They are now able to be heard by the world and heard instantly.

Is there room for Integrity and Courtesy in business these days?

I’d love to know your thoughts...

keep your powder dry,
Warren Cottis

Yes there is!!
I have had quite 'shirty' responses to what seemed to me very polite business questions and suggestions. If I had more time and wasn't quite as self controlled as I am, I could imagine spending hours of my time exacting all sorts of mean plans of revenge and comeuppence for these people and companies.

Please tell whoever you are doing this for that their staff need to be trained to at least say 'thanks for your enquiry (comment), we appreciate your suggestion (feedback) very much'. And to resist ALL temptations to respond with anything even slightly negative or non neutral.

Thanks and good luck.
